Since 1977, Rainbow has been providing quality, loving child care. Kids thrive in our spacious classrooms stocked with a spectrum of equipment including crash mats, scooters, a pedalo, wheel toys, board games, art supplies, and enough blocks to keep pace with a child's imagination. A combination of free choice and teacher-directed activities offers plenty of chances for exploration, play, and development of fine and gross motor skills.
At various times of day, you can find children curled on a sofa for story time; engrossed in an art or science project such as building model volcanoes; learning signs to accompany a song in circle time; climbing the indoor loft or our playground tree house; or just laughing with a friend. Whatever the season or activity, we strive to make every day shine.
Rainbow accepts children from the ages of two and a half to six years. Monday through Friday, two, three or five days per week. We currently offer full days only.
Rainbow is non-profit, started by Mount Calvary Lutheran Church as a service to all families and the community; no religious philosophies are taught. The Church left the building in 2019 and Rainbow has remained under its own non-profit status.
Boulder Housing Partners now owns the buildings and property. Boulder Housing Partners plan to tear down the administrative building but leave the Church intact as a Boulder icon. They will build new Senior Affordable Housing in place of the building they remove. BHP would like Rainbow to remain in the lower level of the church building and we are all very excited about the wonderful opportunities this will offer both of us! We plan to partner with seniors as much as possible for the benefit of both the young children and the seniors. Some of our plans include; gardening together, taking walks, cooking together, creating kid/grand partnerships for activities and of course, singing to them often, and we have many, many more ideas! We feel this can be such a wonderful experience for our kids and are anticipating these changes with bated breath.
We are licensed by the Colorado State Department of Social Services and sponsored by Child Care Food Program through the Colorado Department of Health.
